An Operating System is the low-level software that manages a PC. It takes care of the way the hardware operates, the communication with peripherals for instance a monitor, a printer or a keyboard, the allocation of memory between applications, along with the prioritization of applications in case several run at once. Each program that is installed on a desktop or a notebook functions by sending requests to the OS for different services using an application program interface (API). The communication with the OS can be done via a Graphical User Interface (GUI) or a command line. In the Internet hosting world, the OS is what runs a hosting server and all of the software installed on it, which includes not only website scripts, but, in addition every other application for example a VOIP or a game server. In case there're virtual machines created, they work with a guest OS that runs on the server host OS.

Multiple OS in VPS Web Hosting

Our virtual private server packages include three Linux distributions that you may choose from for the Operating System of your new web server - Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS. Aside from being totally free, the OSs are really stable and protected and the key reason to offer you all three of them is to make sure that you'll be able to run any kind of app that you'd like, because different pieces of software have different requirements in terms of the environment they work on. Each one of the three OSs is backed by a huge community of developers who have created thousands of software packages that you can set up and use on your VPS. Depending on the Operating System that you select, you will also be able to choose between 3 different Control Panels to take care of your hosting content. Needless to say, if you decide that you need a different OS, we could always reinstall the server with it. As a paid upgrade, we also offer you weekly updates of the OS for optimum stability and security.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers Hosting

We offer three Operating Systems with our dedicated server plans - CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian. They're all different Linux distributions and we offer them not only because they are freely available so they will not increase the low price of your new web hosting server, but also because they are really stable and secure. Each one of them is backed up by a big community of web developers, so you'll be given the option to choose from a myriad of software packages that you can install on your server in case the app that you intend to use has specific requirements. The Operating System will also determine what hosting Control Panel you can use because the Control Panels that we offer run on particular OSs only and since we would like to provide you with as much versatility as possible, we offer a couple of OSs and multiple Control Panels. If you choose a server with a certain Operating System, we will change it upon request in the event that it turns out that you will need alternative one. We will also keep the OS updated weekly as part of our additional Managed Services upgrade.
